Automatic Screw Fastening Machine

Application Summary

In traditional production lines, manufacturers use manual tools or semi-automated screwdrivers in screw assembly process. Problems such as screw slippage, screw skewing, substandard torque and screw floating are hard to avoid. In order to improve production quality and achieve high precision and efficiency, the screw fastening process needs to be strictly monitored.

Solution

In order to meet the requirements of high-efficiency screw fastening, NexGOL, a company that provides smart customized machines powered by NexCOBOT, designs and manufactures a fully automated screw fastening machine for the packaging and fixing of the motherboard and the screw assembly of computer fans. With a highly flexible 6-axis robot, it can not only meet the requirements of vertical operation, but also deal with special and complex environments such as fixed bevel and horizontal operation. In the process of screw fastening, the end servo system automatically detects torque, screw loose, floating height, and corrects deviation settings to ensure that the screw fastening process is inerrant. Then the CCD vision system judges the position and quality of the finished product. The machine also equips with various types of screw storage boxes to ensure sufficient material supply.

NexGOL provides NET200-GMC, an EtherCAT master controller, as the main controller for information processing. Based on C/C++ API EtherCAT and real-time OS, it can interactively deal with the data of robots, CCD vision system and servo electric screwdriver in real time. While the NET200-GMC automatically detects and directly imports and exports ENI, it also supports the EtherCAT Network Information (ENI) configuration file, so that NET200-GMC can quickly configure and develop the slave devices.

NEIO-1812, a standard EtherCAT I/O module, is used for part of the I/O signal transmission. It is plug and play, compatible with digital I/O signals, analog I/O signals and relay signals. It can perfectly solve the dilemma of the signal not normally interacting with the current line or old equipment due to the mismatch of devices.
